  • MRH raffling off Jason Aldean tickets at benefit supper

By Robbie McKay, Lincoln News • March 29, 2018

MILLINOCKET – Everyone loves a great dinner, but that dinner becomes super tasty if partaking of it contributes to a worthy cause.

Millinocket Regional Hospital is hosting a public supper on Friday, April 6 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge located at 213 Aroostook Avenue in Millinocket.  The cost is $10 per person and take outs are available.  Proceeds from this dinner will be used by the oncology department at MRH to provide a more comfortable experience for their patients.

“Our clinic currently serves patients from throughout the Katahdin Region as well as from the Lincoln, Brownville and Patten area, each with a varying degree of illness,” said Katie Mackin, marketing director for MRH.   “This renovation will provide a more comfortable environment for some of our sickest patients to receive the treatments they need right here, close to home,” she said.

The dinner will feature not only great food, but entertainment as well.   MRH’s chefs Mike Scrooc and Carol Boucher from the dietary department will be volunteering their time to prepare the meal. The menu consists of chicken broccoli alfredo served over fettuccini, a Caesar salad, dinner roll and strawberry shortcake for dessert.  Complimentary tea and coffee will be served, but there also will be a cash bar available for those who wish to purchase other potables.  Wally Paul will providing the musical entertainment throughout the evening.

There will be a 50/50 raffle that night, and the dinner will also be the last opportunity for people to purchase a chance to win a pair of Jason Aldean tickets generously donated by Waterfront Concerts.  The winner for the Jason Aldean tickets will be drawn at the end of the night.  These tickets are on sale now, and can be purchased at Millinocket Regional Hospital in the following locations: Oncology Clinic, Wound Care, Marketing and Registration  They are also available for purchase at LIFEstyle Fitness.  Mackin is pleased with the community’s support of this project.
“We are so grateful to all of the wonderful people donating their time and talents to this event; specifically Mike Scrooc, Carol Boucher and Wally Paul,” Mackin said.  “This event is centered around delicious food and fantastic entertainment.  We couldn’t do this without them.”

Mackin also said that the hospital is planning its biggest fundraiser to date.   The 2018 MRH Golf Tournament will be held Friday, June 29th at Hillcrest Golf Club.  In addition to a beautiful day on the greens, multiple contests and events are planned throughout the course.  The day will conclude with a hearty meal and an auction of highly sought after items.  If you’re interested in participating in the golf tournament as a sponsor, player or even a volunteer, please email Katie Mackin at kmackin@mrhme.org for more information.
