Chief Financial Officer

Millinocket Regional Hospital is looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to direct and oversee the hospital’s fiscal operations, including revenue cycle management, budgeting and financial reporting.

The CFO will ensure the hospital’s financial viability and regulatory compliance while partnering with executive leadership to implement strategies that optimize both resource stewardship and community healthcare delivery.

Qualifications:  Masters Degree in Finance, Business Administration and/or Healthcare Administration.  Minimum of five years management experience required.  Hospital CFO or controller experience preferred.  Critical Access hospital knowledge to include CAH Cost Reporting, required.  Must have experience in service line analysis – recognizing negative trends and developing corrective strategies, recognizing real time trending and course adjustment.  Must have a proven track record of solid performance and financial improvement planning as well as in completing initiatives in a timely manner and within set parameters.  Must be a teacher and collaborator to department managers.  Must have excellent reporting skills and proven prioritization skills.

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Millinocket Regional Hospital is looking for a full-time Registered Respiratory Therapist.

As a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Millinocket Regional Hospital, you are a versatile clinician, not a specialist confined to one unit. You will operate at the top of your license, transitioning seamlessly between critical bedside care and advanced diagnostic testing across multiple clinical settings.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Champion Comprehensive Care: Administer all aspects of respiratory therapy, including mechanical ventilation, NIPPV (CPAP/BiPAP), Vapotherm, and therapeutic gas administration for acute and primary care.
  • Expert Airway Management: Provide hands-on bedside therapy including Chest PT, PEP therapy (Flutter/Acapella), incentive spirometry, and Peak Flow instruction.
  • Lead Diagnostic Excellence: Oversee and perform a wide range of testing, including PFT studies, sleep study testing and scoring, and nocturnal oximetry.
  • Provide Essential Cardiac & Vascular Services: Perform EKGs and Holter/Event monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure recordings, and Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) tests.
  • Conduct Cardiac Stress Testing: Hook up and monitor patients for Nuclear and Treadmill Cardiac Stress Testing, including IV insertion and removal, for a vast patient base.
  • Influence Patient Outcomes: Impact long-term health through pulmonary rehabilitation, smoking cessation counseling, and the coordination of home oxygen and ventilators.

MAIN FUNCTIONS:  Plan, directs, coordinates and evaluates the overall practice of the swing bed program and social services.  Swing Bed Coordinator will work with the different disciplines within the facility including Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, dietary, and the different clinics and services to ensure a safe discharge process.

GENERAL INFORMATION:  Full-Time, Hourly Position.  36 Hours Per Week, Varied Days and Hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Millinocket Regional Hospital is looking for a qualified, full-time Accountant to support the Fiscal Services department.

Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred; a combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience/ knowledge of computer-based software, such as Excel and Word, required. Previous healthcare or not-for-profit experience in accounting preferred. Must have strong organizational skills, communication skills, competency with numbers, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Main Functions:  To maintain a complete and systematic set of records of all financial transactions of the hospital and affiliated organizations to meet internal and external reporting requirements. Functions include monthly journal entries and financial statement preparation, special purpose fund accounting, account reconciliation, tax reporting, audit schedules, daily cash reporting, and data analysis and reporting.

Millinocket Regional Hospital has an opening for a part-time Administrative Assistant to support the CEO.

Main Functions: Provide administrative support to the CEO by performing a variety of clerical and office duties, including answering incoming telephone calls and responding or directing follow-up as needed, maintaining files, scheduling meetings, and preparing meeting minutes.  May be asked to provide clerical support to other senior administrators when needed.  This role requires working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, the ability to interact professionally with a wide range of individuals, and a high level of confidentiality.

Main Functions: Will include answering phone, chart retrieval, scanning of   all paper records retrieved from Emergency Room, Ambulatory Surgery, and Inpatients, charging E&M levels for providers for observation and inpatients, faxing of emergency room reports and radiology reports to providers and release of information.

RN Nursing Supervisor | Full-time, Days

Millinocket Regional Hospital has an immediate opening for an RN Nursing Supervisor for the ED, Med/Surg, SCU.

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Responsible for providing leadership, operational oversight, and clinical support for hospital services during assigned shifts. This role ensures safe, high-quality patient care across the Emergency Department, Medical-Surgical unit, and Special Care Unit, while managing staffing, patient flow, and adherence to hospital policies. The RN Nursing Supervisor acts as the administrative representative during off-hours and coordinates with providers, ancillary departments, and senior leadership as needed.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:  

Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Licensure in the State of Maine as a Registered Nurse (RN).

JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:  

Five (5) years clinical nursing experience preferred. Previous critical care or ER experience strongly preferred. Prior leadership or charge nurse experience required. Broad understanding of patient care processes. Able to manage high stress situations, prioritize based on care needs, delegate appropriately, and effectively multi-task. Must be flexible with work scheduling. Involves discretion and independent action within prescribed limits.

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – required.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) – preferred.
  • Basic Life Support in Obstetrics (BLSO) – preferred.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the on-site leader for all clinical and non-clinical operations during assigned shifts.
  • Provide immediate problem-solving and decision-making support for emergent issues in ED, Med/Surg, and SCU.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Act as liaison between nursing staff, physicians, and administration.
  • Monitor patient acuity and ensure appropriate staffing assignments across all units.
  • Support clinical teams in managing high-acuity or complex patient situations.
  • Ensure timely patient admissions, transfers, and discharges to optimize bed availability.
  • Collaborate with providers to prioritize patient care needs and resource allocation.
  • Evaluate staffing levels based on census and acuity; adjust assignments as needed.
  • Authorize call-ins or floating of staff between units to maintain safe ratios.
  • Maintain competency in clinical skills and provide direct patient care when necessary.
  • Lead hospital response for codes, rapid responses, and other emergencies.
  • Serve as primary contact for incident management and escalation during assigned shifts.
  • Ensure appropriate communication and documentation of critical events.
  • Document and report shift activities, staffing changes, and patient flow issues.
  • Assist in enforcing hospital policies and addressing employee concerns or conflicts.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and regulatory compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

HOURS OF WORK: 

Full-time, 36 hours per week, 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Ability to function independently in at least one acute area preferred.  Must possess excellent communication and team-building skills.  Must be flexible.

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)

Millinocket Regional Hospital, a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital nestled at the base of Mt. Katahdin and Baxter State Park in Northern Maine has an immediate opening to join a three (3) person CRNA team.  Millinocket Regional Hospital serves as the primary care facility for the communities of Millinocket, East Millinocket, Medway and many surrounding communities.

Qualifications:  Must have a current State of Maine RN license and be certified by the National Board of Certification and Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists.  Current BCLS/ACLS/PALS certifications are required.  Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to function and remain calm in stressful and emergent situations. Experience with spinals and epidurals preferred. Opportunity to learn ultrasound guided regional blocks.

Duties:  Administers anesthesia to patients of all ages in the operating room and in other patient care areas according to hospital policies and procedures.

There is no anesthesiologist supervision.  Caseload includes bread and butter cases, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Urology, healthy pediatrics, Pain Management, Ophthalmology, Podiatry and Endoscopy.  We currently employ one full time general surgeons, one full time orthopedic surgeon, one part time urologist, one part time Podiatrist, one contracted Pain Management Physician, and one contracted Ophthalmologist.

This salaried position offers a unique schedule.  Week one:  M-F (no call).  Week two:  M-F with call responsibility Monday until the following Monday morning.  Week three:  Off.
