Millinocket Regional Hospital offers a full range of general surgery interventions as well as scopes, such as colonoscopies and endoscopies; an effective way to see what is going on inside the body without the use of surgery.
Our General Surgery team includes highly skilled surgeon, M.H. Niayesh, MD, FRCS, FACS, as well as Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, Registered Nurses, and Surgical Technicians. They use the latest medical technology to ensure every patient receives safe, high-quality services.
In addition to traditional “open” surgeries, Dr. Niayesh also does laparoscopic surgeries. This means that, rather than making a large incision, the surgeon is able to complete the surgery by make small incisions in the stomach and using an instrument outfitted with a camera and light called a laparoscope. Laparoscopic surgeries result in shorter hospital stays, faster recovery, less pain and bleeding after the operation and reduced scarring.

Our Surgical department, also known as Millinocket Surgical Associates, consists of: Ambulatory Surgery, Endoscopy, Urology Surgery, two Operating Room Suites, Minor Surgery, Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Anesthesia and Central Sterile Processing Unit.

Hours of Operation:
The surgical office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Scheduled surgeries are performed at Millinocket Regional Hospital Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., however, our surgical staff is on-call twenty-four hours every day for emergency surgeries.
