Millinocket Regional Hospital’s Orthopaedics unit — Northern Penobscot Orthopaedics — offers an impressive range of services including joint replacement, sports medicine, and trauma services to patients throughout the Katahdin Region.

James Joseph, MD, MS, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a strong educational background and vast experience.  He sees and treats adults with musculoskeletal disorders of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle.

Dr. Joseph believes in tailoring treatment to the individual patient, working together to try available nonsurgical options first before making the joint decision to proceed to surgery if needed. He utilizes minimally invasive techniques whenever possible and multimodal analgesia protocols for improved post-operative pain management and faster recovery.

Dr. Joseph specializes in arthritis and joint replacement surgery, including primary and revision hip and knee replacement. He also offers arthroscopic knee surgery for meniscus tears, operative and nonoperative fracture care, and a variety of other orthopedic procedures.
