Action-packed tournament to raise funds for cancer patients’ comfort

MILLINOCKET – With only a little over $112,000 left to raise to complete its oncology clinic renovation, Millinocket Regional Hospital will be hosting its 2nd Annual MRH Golf Tournament on Friday, June 28th at Hillcrest Golf Club in Millinocket. Katie Mackin, Marketing Director for MRH is encouraging participants to get registered now to avoid disappointment later as spots for last year’s tournament filled quickly.
“We’re thrilled to be hosting this tournament again,” Mackin said. “Last year’s tournament was a huge success; not only in funds raised but also in the amount of fun we had,” said Mackin.
The event was such a success last year, that players had requested early that the tournament be held again this year. Not only will the players enjoy a great game of golf, but they also can take part in exciting contests including hole in one. The skilled (or lucky) player that accomplishes that feat will win a new car or $35,000 toward a new Chevrolet courtesy of Katahdin Motors. Once again this year the Leaderboard of Boston air cannon will be on site for those who want to shoot their ball to the green rather than drive it. There will also be closest to the pin, longest drive contests, and more. The cost to enter is $75 per person, or $300 for a foursome.
In addition to all these activities players will get breakfast, a barbecue lunch and they can take part in a happy hour followed by a prime rib dinner by Spectrum Healthcare Partners.
It takes many people working together to have a successful event such as this, and Mackin gives thanks to all the sponsors of this year’s tournament as well as players and volunteers.

We are so grateful to everyone who is taking part in this tournament, which will help us raise the $112,000 we need to fulfill our Oncology Clinic Renovation project.” Mackin said.
