  • Millinocket Regional Hospital receives two prestigious awards

by Robbie McKay, The Lincoln News

Millinocket Regional Hospital has been named one of the “62 Critical Access Hospitals to Know for 2017” by Becker’s Healthcare and also has been named one of the 2017 Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the U.S., according to The National Rural Health Association’s Rural Health Policy Institute, iVantage Health Analytics and The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

Bob Peterson, CEO of Millinocket Regional Hospital, said that the fact that MRH was named on not just one, but both lists is significant in that it shows that the hospital is not only achieving high quality, but also that MRH is a leader in critical access advancement.

“I cannot be more proud of this hospital and our awesome staff. These are two very exclusive lists and for MRH to make both lists in the same year is a testament to our culture and to our dedication to our patients,” Peterson said. “Our community members who have experienced our care know just how special this hospital is and have supported us without question,” he continued.

Critical access hospitals have 25 or fewer inpatient beds and the annual average length of stay is 96 hours or fewer for acute care. These hospitals also offer 24/7 emergency care and must be located at least 35 miles away from any other hospital.

Peterson offered high praise to the staff at MRH as the hospital continues to receive awards.

“It is an honor for me to work at MRH and be surrounded by the best patients and the best staff each and every day,” he said.
