  • Patients Rate Millinocket Regional Hospital Among the Best in the State and New England

Millinocket Regional Hospital has once again earned high marks from their patients. Recent patient survey results on satisfaction show Millinocket Regional Hospital ranked 3rd in the state, and 7th in New England.

The annual Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems, also known as the HCAHPS Survey, is a government sponsored survey that looks at patient satisfaction for such measures as communication by doctors and nurses, responsiveness of staff, and cleanliness and quietness of facilities. The HCAHPS Survey is sent to a random sampling of patients who were admitted to New England hospitals for an overnight stay and who were discharged to home. Millinocket Regional Hospital patients participating in the survey gave their hospital top-tier placement among 176 New England hospitals.

“The staff at Millinocket Regional Hospital (MRH) are serious about the delivery of patient care with compassion and dignity,” states MRH interim CEO, Jim Sexton. “Patient needs come first and our physicians excel in communicating effectively with patients and families. In addition, MRH places a high degree of emphasis on the professional growth and development of staff and physicians alike.”

MRH performed well in every category, but especially impressive were satisfaction scores in communication with doctors and in cleanliness of the facility. 86% of patients said their doctors always communicated well with them, and 86% said that their rooms were always clean.

MRH has an advantage over larger hospitals because as a smaller, local hospital in a tight-knit community, doctors, nurses and other staff have the opportunity to get to know their patients better which fosters good relationships and better communication. Last year, MRH ranked 1st in the state of Maine for patient satisfaction and this year’s placement at 3rd continues to reflect the sustained effort by staff to ensure their patients are well cared for.

MRH is a 25-bed, critical access hospital serving the Katahdin area providing emergency care, laboratory services, imaging services, rehabilitation, primary care, surgical procedures, pediatrics and other critical services.

“Through a team effort of highly competent staff, we have created and maintained a reputation for excellent quality of care provided in a safe environment. Staff take pride in ‘giving their best’ to each patient. Staff genuinely care for all the people we serve,” adds Sexton.

Millinocket Regional Hospital is committed to providing quality, award winning healthcare, delivered by staff at the facility who take pride in their work and demonstrate a tremendous devotion to personalized patient care. Based on the results of the latest HCAHPS survey, patients couldn’t agree more.
